The Futeurope project can present itself there. Isabel en Ridie have ideas about sharing information about Futeurope with others.Henri has talked with the other coordinators about continuation of this project, but then with the focus on the way, how to start and facilitate this kind of study circles. They will propose this to the EU.
4. Announcements and asking around.None
5. Retrospect meeting in Hungary. The meetings with the support organisations were helpful in gaining some understanding about the current policies in dealing with the elderly in Hungary. The visit to one home for the elderly was well prepared and delightful. We had the impression however, that this was not representative for all homes for the elderly in Hungary. The welcome meal in Debrecen was very much appreciated, as was the guidance and support of Zsuzsi. We very much enjoyed the discussion of the paper of the Hungarians on scale of values and the reflections on it from our side. We hope for further discussions on these issues.
6. Preparation next meeting. We will have a meeting with the chairmen of the council of the elderly of Amersfoort..One of the discussion points will be the arbitrarily set age upper limit of 70 years for entrance to a living community group.
7. Brainstorm closing meeting in Amersfoort mid 2009.We discussed a number of possible activities and program points. We need to address the requirements for sleeping, meals and transport for about 14 guests from abroad. Isabel will provide a first outline. Henri will make a first set-up for a symposium on the Friday of the planned visit. Henri will coordinate all ideas.
8. Closing. Next meetings 12th November, chair Berti. Same place.
The Futeurope studycircle group in Debrecen, Hungary, prepared a succesful 4-day meeting in their city. Visiting participants came from Finland, England, The Netherlands. Including the Hungarian studycircle members, about twenty persons took part. Although invited, no reaction was received from the ‘associated’ studycircle in Oradea, Romania.
Starting on October 7 with a dinner prepared by the Hungarian group, the programme in Debrecen included visits to the House of Equal Opportunities (Esélyek Húza), the Péter Méliusz Juhász Reformed Rest Home, the University and the thermal bath of Debrecen. There was also room in the programme for an interesting discussion on the ‘values and norms’ in our nowadays society, an debate initiated by the Hungarian studycircle group and thoroughly commented on by the Dutch and the other groups. The theme may also become the main topic for the final Futeurope-project conference, which is scheduled for the end of May next year. In between a visit will be paid to the English Futeurope group in the Amber Valley district in Derbyshire, England (UK) in the next spring (March 24-27).
The Debrecen programme ended October 10 when the visiting groups returned to Budapest and the airport by minibus. On their way to- (the Fins) and their way home (the Dutch) from Debrecen both the Finnish and the Dutch group spent some days in the Hungarian capital.

Not present (with notification): Bertie Linschoten.
Meeting in the communal room of the residential complex 55+ Bloemendaalse Buitenkade 11.
1.Opening No changes to the agenda.
2.Report meeting 25th June 2008.
The leaflet is still not printed. Henri has tried to contact the English about this, but until now no result. Henri will contact Leena about the pictures of our visit to Finland.
3. Incoming mail, web-reports partner countries.
Website: Henri has published some stuff on it. Some members have still difficulties in opening the FutEurope website. Henri will look into this matter. The English want to know whether 24-27 March is suitable for out visit to England in 2009.
4. Announcements and asking around.
Maria wants to know, what to prepare for our visit to Debrecen, Hungary. This will be discussed separately. Isabel will write an informative article about Futeurope. Coen wants to present some information in the Senior Council of Amersfoort. The chairman of that council (Heyman Hooyer) will visit us in one of the next meetings.
5. Retrospect meeting with seniors in the Trefpunt.
Henri presented background information about Futeurope. Some of the participants suggested to close the project with an advisory paper for the EC. Henri will also make a manual on how to start groups like this Futeurope group.
6. Preparation visit Hungary.
There is still no program for this visit. Henri will ask them about this. Departure October 7th, to Budapest October 10th. As discussion theme it is proposed to discuss the care for the elderly in Hungary. On the “Scale of values” discussionpaper” Johan will prepare a concept about these and related issues we are interested in.
7. Preparation questions guest from the Senior Council.
Berti will invite him. Questions can be: personnel policies of companies with regard elder people; loneliness; the 70th year limit for admittance to communal group housing; living service areas; invisibility of the Senior Council for people in the street.
8. Brainstorm closing meeting in Amersfoort mid 2009.
Isabel has prepared with Coen a number of possible activities: visit to a communal housing group; drinking coffie in “Hemels” (a senior meeting point); visiting a living service area facility; visiting a (mostly) senior volunteers project like canal boats, city guides; computer support for the elderly et cetera.
The whole organisation should be divided in packages for two persons each. A central theme could be the passing through of traditions from the elderly to the youngsters. If possible some kind of symposium should be organised to end up with an advice to the EC. Johan proposes to prepare the visitors from abroad by sending them the virtual city walks. The Mayor has to be invited also, as some other very important persons. Some coordination with the city activities around the celebration of 750th years of city rights (bishop of Utrecht granted them) seems wise.
Dates are 13 and 14th June, with possible an extra day?
A budget has to be decided upon. Some locations for the meeting have been mentioned.
Isabel and Coen will make a further proposal.
6. Closing.
