| Comments on differences or similarites in relation to care for older people in Finland with that of England | |
| DifferencesThere seem to be a much wider range of FREE educational and interest activities. Charges for medicines and Health Service. Medicines dispensed in daily dosage packages?? not just in bulk packs. | SimilaritiesGraded care dependant on need, from independant through supported to total care. Telecare options available. The document seems to indicate that Community Care is the prefered option |
| Questions: |
| 1. How are Care Homes monitored for conditions and standards? |
| 2. Are generations living together at home supported by authority – either by payment or incentive - as independent living is? |
| 3. Do the Senior Councils consist of any service users? |
| The maximum payment for ‘communal health care’ is €590 per calendar year, after that non institutional care is free of charge4. Does the €590 cover health needs such as dentistry, hospitalisation, operations, etc? |
| 5. Is normal transport free, similar to the ‘Concessionary Travel’ scheme? |
Present: Henri Braakenburg, Coen van Baggum, Bertie Linschoten, Johan Riemersma, Maria Storsbergen, Isabel Terpstra, Ridie Vos, Lenie Nebbeling. Not present (with notification): Gerbert Rebel. Meeting in the communal room of the residential complex for 55+ Bloemendaalse Buitenkade 11. 1.Opening No changes to the agenda. 2.Report meeting 4th June 2008. The leaflet will be finished by Henri. He will collect photo’s from everyone and then sent them around. His mail address is: seppo.kaikkonen@pp1.inet.fi We can expect many photo’s from Finland. What will we send them? Henri will distribute the hoto’s already received. And also the translation of an article in the newspaper of Kiuruvesi. Some members have difficulties in opening the FutEurope website. Some will meet with Henri for help and explanation.Johan has made a reaction to the questions, raised by the English about pension schemes and so on. With some modifications he will publish it in the FutEurope general forum. (Has been done!)Hungary has sent a notition about norms and values. Henri will distribute it, Then we can discuss it and make up a reaction from our side. 4.Report on the visit to Finland. The visit has been discussed thoroughly. A written report is in the making.5. Announcements and asking around.Bertie is member of the policy committee of the broadcasting organisation of Amersfoort. She is responsible for alerting them to issues about seniors. She wants to bring in the FutEurope activities. She will invite them when some of us will present FutEurope in a senior platform. Henri will make a kind of user guide, how to organize studygroups for seniors including a list of topics to be discussed. Before our visit to Hungary, he will finalize a concept. After closure of this FutEurope project, it is possible to start a new, even larger project. For the EU it is a priority that people meet, discuss and exchange information. 6. Closing. Next meeting 3 September 1400, same place. Chair: Ridie Vos
